Retired UFC Fighter Turns the Tables on Aggressive Motorist

A heated encounter unfolded one night in South Florida when a motorist decided to challenge a police officer, who happened to be a retired UFC fighter. Officer Marlon “Magic” Moraes, 38, found himself in a tense situation after pulling over the loud motorist.

This incident came to light recently with the release of police body cam footage, showing Moraes deftly handling the situation as the driver escalated the conflict. The confrontation took place on a late evening in March when the motorist began to verbally challenge the officers after being pulled over.

In an unedited version of the footage, he can be heard telling a female officer to “shut the fuck up,” seemingly disregarding the authority of law enforcement.

When Moraes defended his partner, the motorist retorted with, “Don’t be like that. Don’t be a bitch.” He stepped closer, seemingly ready to confront Moraes directly.

Moraes attempted to defuse the situation by creating some space. However, things escalated again when the driver, unhappy about his car being towed, insulted another male officer and then turned to Moraes, challenging him directly by saying, “You ain’t that big, bro. I can fuck you up.”

At five-foot-six and 145 pounds, Moraes had extensive experience as a featherweight, having participated in numerous fights, many of which were televised—something the motorist clearly underestimated.

As the situation intensified, Moraes warned the driver, “You’re one step away from making it worse for you.” But the combative driver chose to step forward regardless, prompting Moraes to execute a swift hip toss, bringing the man down to the pavement almost instantly.

The motorist didn’t manage to lay a hand on Moraes during the altercation. Other officers quickly moved in to apprehend him.

Moraes has a distinguished history in the UFC, having joined the premier league in 2017 and retiring from MMA in 2023. He later joined the Davie Police Department near Fort Lauderdale before taking a role with the Coral Springs Police later that year.

As for the aggressive driver, there hasn’t been any information released regarding the charges he might be facing.
