Tragic Shooting in Florida: Three Men Killed

Three men awaiting help for car issues were stalked and shot in Florida, according to the families of the victims. The incident has been described as an appalling act in the criminal justice system.

The men, who were heading to central Florida for the Meecum Car Show—the largest collector car auction in the world—had been staying at an Airbnb. Family members noted that the suspect had been watching them from a distance before the shooting occurred.

The family stated, “There was no interaction between the men and this person before the incident, but they approached him afterwards and senselessly killed him.” They emphasized the randomness and tragedy of the event.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to numerous 911 calls about gunfire in the Indian Point area around noon on Saturday. Officers found three men dead outside the residence, each suffering from severe gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as Robert Louis Craft, a 70-year-old from Holland, Michigan; his brother Douglas Joseph Craft, 68, from Columbus, Ohio; and James John Pukan, 69, also of Columbus.

According to their families, the men planned to return home Saturday, but car troubles forced them to extend their trip. The shooting happened while they were waiting for a replacement rental car.

The suspect has been named as 29-year-old Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, who lived next door. Shortly after the shooting, authorities spotted Bojeh fleeing to his home. He was later apprehended and found with two firearms. He now faces three counts of first-degree murder.

This wasn’t Bojeh’s first encounter with the law. He had a prior incident in 2021 involving a charge of attempted first-degree murder after allegedly firing at random people and vehicles at a gas station in Kissimmee. He was ultimately found not guilty by reason of insanity, according to court documents.

Additionally, records reveal that Bojeh had a history of arrests for felony drug possession and resisting an officer without violence, highlighting ongoing issues with law enforcement.

Florida Attorney General James Usmeyer has criticized the legal loopholes that allowed Bojeh to remain free prior to the shooting. He remarked, “Across the country, we are seeing violent criminals reenter society free because of the insanity defense,” and is urging lawmakers to tighten these laws.

Usmeyer expressed determination that nothing should prevent the confinement of violent offenders, stating, “We will not tolerate leftist prosecutors releasing murderers and violent criminals to harm our families.”

Bojeh was denied bail during his first court appearance on Sunday, as investigations continue to ascertain if the weapons recovered were used in the incident. Osceola County Sheriff Christopher Blackmon reassured the community, mentioning that those responsible for these horrifying and senseless murders are now in custody, posing no continued threat.
