Negative Attention for Blake Jendevian

Blake Jendevian, a Democrat and challenger to Republican Conference chair Elise Stefanik in New York’s 21st district, has recently stirred controversy over campaign ads and discussions generated by AI during a TV interview.

In that interview, Jendevian was questioned about some of his past comments. In 2013, he made remarks about local issues surrounding domestic violence, substance abuse, and living wage challenges. This prompted him to claim that finding residents without these problems is “difficult.” When the interviewer pressed him on whether this sounded like he was generalizing about his community, Jendevian began to respond, but his consultant, Aziz Yakub, interrupted him.

Yakub interjected, stating, “I’m going to jump in here. Before we started this, we discussed focusing broadly on the campaign, and we just wanted to flag this.” The reporter, however, maintained that “nothing is off limits in the interview” and mentioned a statement from Stefanik’s senior adviser, Alex DeGrath, regarding Jendevian’s comments.

DeGrath said: “By hiding his vicious attacks on local corrections officers and adopting fatal amnesty positions, the desperate far-left Democrat makes history by using digitally altered images in ads that are sexist and deceptive.”

Jendevian attempted to regain focus, asserting, “Aziz, that’s fine. I’m an open book. I was not a politician 15 years ago, and I’m not one today.”

Meanwhile, Stefanik, smiling at a video generated by Jendevian’s campaign, condemned it as “blatantly sexist” and called for New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Democratic Speaker Jay Jacobs to speak out against the ad. “Politics has no place for creating such moral degradation,” she added, noting that the ad “disregards the elderly.”

In a statement to Breitbart News, Stefanik’s campaign highlighted that Jendevian has a history of making negative comments about local workers, branding them as “bad” and suggesting that local hires often replace Hispanic workers. He has also voiced critiques about their punctuality, drinking habits, and personal challenges. Additionally, he acknowledged that he hadn’t verified the legal status of his employees, expressing his struggle to find help and mentioning a $10,000 bail for a farmer detained by Border Patrol.
