Conservative Super PAC Makes Initial Campaign Contributions
In a new development, a conservative super PAC that focuses on artificial intelligence policies is making its first campaign contributions. The PAC, known as Defending Our Values, is backing two Republican candidates in important House races, believing these elections are crucial for the party’s chances to retain control.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Defending Our Values is supporting Rhett Marquez from Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District and Scott Singer from Florida’s 25th Congressional District.
The Republican Party currently has a narrow majority in the House, and a few key races could play a significant role in deciding which party leads Congress after the 2026 midterm elections. The super PAC considers both of these races vital for Republicans to keep their majority, as mentioned by an insider.
The political landscape is undergoing rapid changes due to ongoing debates about artificial intelligence legislation in Congress, as lawmakers are trying to find a way to regulate emerging technologies effectively while also fostering American innovation and keeping ahead of countries like China. Defending Our Values believes that conservatives, rather than tech leaders from Silicon Valley, should be at the forefront of crafting these regulations.
Recently, the group announced a $15 million campaign but hadn’t shared which candidates would benefit from this funding until now.
Marquez and Singer are the first beneficiaries of this funding initiative, as the organization believes they will be strong advocates in Congress for policies against Big Tech, improving online safety for children, and ensuring that the U.S. remains competitive in AI development.
Both candidates are navigating challenging Republican primaries as they prepare for what could be a highly competitive general election.
Marquez is facing various challengers in Alabama’s Republican primary and has secured endorsements from President Donald Trump and Senator Katie Britt. A special primary election is set for August 11 due to redistricting.
Meanwhile, Singer is also in a crowded primary for his district in Florida, having support from state Attorney General James Usmeyer, among others, as he gears up for the August 18 primary election.
The spending by Defending Our Values is intended not just to assist Marquez and Singer in their primaries but also to elevate their visibility ahead of the general election in November. If Marquez wins the primary, he’ll likely face incumbent Democratic Representative Shomali Figures. Similarly, if Singer secures his nomination, he may go up against Representative Jared Moskowitz, one of Trump’s more vocal Democratic opponents in Congress.
