AJ Dillon’s New Chapter with the Eagles

AJ Dillon is excited about his new role with the Philadelphia Eagles, especially as he prepares for the upcoming season starting on September 4th. Having played his first five NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, he’s known for sharing the field with Aaron Jones. Unfortunately, Dillon had to sit out the 2024 season due to a neck injury but was signed by the Eagles during free agency.

In a recent chat, Dillon expressed his enthusiasm about being part of what he considers “the best offensive line in football.” He feels quite at home and is eager to make the most of the season ahead. It’s, I think, a good opportunity for him to showcase his skills.

Before heading off to training camp, Dillon joined some fellow NFL players—like Justin Herbert and Kyler Murray—at the Chess.com Blitzchamps Tournament. It’s a bit surprising, maybe, to see athletes switch gears like that, but Dillon commented on how chess can serve as a mental workout that complements their physical training.

Reflecting on his performance, Dillon admitted, “there are chess sharks in the league,” which, I suppose, means he faced some tough competition. Still, he values the strategic thinking that chess promotes, calling it an essential part of preparing for football.

Outside of football, Dillon has been active in fundraising for his charity, which he started last year. He believes that not only does playing chess offer enjoyment, but it also allows him to contribute to a noble cause, which, I think, is pretty commendable.

Despite not getting the results he hoped for in the chess tournament, Dillon remains driven and competitive. He stated, “Next time, I’ll be much better. It definitely made me hungry.” He appears motivated and ready to tackle challenges that come his way, in both chess and football alike.
