The Alabama death row inmate was executed Thursday after being convicted of sexual assault in 2010 and fatal stab wounds of his 44-year-old Chilton County mother, Tracy Lynn Willemon.
According to a statement from Gov. Kay Ivy, 55, James Osgood was declared dead at 6:35pm on Thursday after receiving a fatal injection at 6:35pm on Thursday.
Before the execution, Ivy told Amendment Commissioner John Hamm that she had not used her generous force and had directed her to proceed with the death sentence.
“Tracy Willemon’s murder was premeditated, horrifying and intrusive. Tonight, the nation sentenced James Osgood to death,” Ivy wrote in a statement.

Texas was strangled and executed a man 20 years later, stabbing his young mother to death.
Osgood was convicted of cutting Wilemon’s throat in 2014 after he and his girlfriend Tonya Vandyke sexually assaulted her in 2014, according to an Associated Press report.
Wilmon reportedly was Bandique’s cousin.
“From the moment he was inspired by the torture scenes in Hollywood, Osgood and his accomplice committed this heinous crime against Wilmon, who he would never see the light of day, and now pays the price,” Ivy wrote.
“And let’s be clear. At the end of all this, Osgood took her life out of Wilmon, and it can never be reversed for her family.

The judge controls the death penalty to entrust the punishment with Brian Coberger’s autism diagnosis.
In a phone interview from the prison, Osgood told the Associated Press that he did not appeal the sentence because he “convicted a murder charge.”
“I believe that, like I said in court, I have eyes and teeth,” he said. “I took my life and mine was confiscated. I don’t believe in sitting here and wasting everyone’s time and everyone’s money.”

Osgood also apologised to the victim’s family, noting that he would not ask for forgiveness.
“I’m not going to ask them what their forgiveness is because I know they can’t give it,” he said. “I regret taking her from them. I regret shortening her life. I regret taking one of God’s children. And I regret the pain and suffering that I brought for me, not just for the victim and her family.”
The victim’s family supported the death sentence at the trial, but it is unclear whether the relatives attended the execution of Osgood, the 14th one held in the United States this year.
