Alabama mother, Kelli Lyn Ryan, accused of slapping older passenger aboard MSC cruise

A mother and son from Aramba are accused of slapping an elderly passenger on board an MSC cruise ship in Jamaica, with the latter allegedly being thrown overboard for an “excessive act”, according to reports.

Kelly Lynn Ryan, 49, and her son Dylan Ryan were allegedly caught on surveillance footage attacking the victim during an MSC cruise departing from Miami on October 6th. Local 10 reported.

The next day, Dylan was removed from the MSC Seascape cruise ship at its first port of call, Falmouth, Jamaica, for unspecified “excessive behavior,” authorities said.

However, his mother was allowed to go on a week-long cruise with a stop in Grand Cayman Island. Cozumel, Mexico and MSC Ocean Cay – the cruise line's private islands in the Bahamas.

When the Seascape returned to Miami on Saturday, October 12, Kelly was arrested by Miami-Dade police shortly after disembarking, a local Florida news station reported.

She was arrested on suspicion of assault on a person over the age of 65.

According to footage obtained by police, Kelly allegedly slapped the victim in the ship's two-story theater after an argument at around 9:30 p.m. on October 6.

According to Local 10, the ship's deputy security officer told police that footage also showed her son punching the victim several times.

Police have not released details about what led to the altercation or whether the victim and Mr. and Mrs. Ryan knew each other before the cruise.

MSC Cruises and the Miami-Dade Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post's inquiries.
