Alaric Jackson of the Rams plans to challenge his two-game NFL suspension for hitting Bradley Chubb of the Bills.

Alaric Jackson is set to challenge his two-game suspension imposed by the NFL.

Sean McVay, the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, confirmed on Tuesday that Jackson, the starting left tackle, plans to file an appeal following a striking incident involving the Buffalo Bills linebacker, Bradley Chubb. This occurred after a surprising 37-34 overtime defeat at SoFi Stadium.

“Yes, that’s my understanding,” McVay stated when questioned about Jackson’s intention to appeal.

The altercation took place near the middle of the field just after the Bills secured victory with a game-winning field goal. Jackson and Chubb exchanged some words, leading to Jackson throwing a right-handed punch that was captured on camera.

McVay expressed greater concern over Jackson’s judgment rather than just the impending disciplinary action, emphasizing the importance of Jackson’s role to the team. “He has to consistently do a better job,” McVay noted. “It certainly doesn’t help us when we’re missing a player of his caliber.”

Jackson isn’t unfamiliar with NFL sanctions; he faced a two-game suspension in 2024 for breaching the league’s personal conduct policy, making this recent incident particularly disheartening.

While McVay stopped short of outright condemning Jackson without knowing the exact details of the confrontation, he admitted he wasn’t aware of what provocation Chubb may have used. “I’m not condoning by any stretch of the imagination, but I want to gather all the information before I make comments,” he said.

Regardless of what was said, Jackson’s reaction could see the Rams missing their starting left tackle for two games—something that poses an even bigger challenge for a struggling team with a record of 2-3 than the punch itself.
