Alec Baldwin Reflects on Career Changes After Tragic Incident

Alec Baldwin recently shared his thoughts about his career in film, nearly five years after the unfortunate death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins on the set of “The Last.”

In July 2024, a Santa Fe judge dismissed the manslaughter charge against Baldwin, declaring that prosecutors had not disclosed evidence to the defense.

The actor noted that this “painful” event had a profound impact on how he views his professional life.

“There was this tragedy in New Mexico where Halina Hutchins was murdered on the set of a movie, and it was incredibly difficult to deal with,” he mentioned during an interview on a podcast.

Baldwin recounted how the situation led him to spend a lot more time at home. “For three and a half years, I was mostly home with my kids, and I didn’t work much, but that’s about to change now.”

He acknowledged his desire to get back into the swing of things, but also admitted he’s grown somewhat fond of staying home with his family. “I got used to it because I was at home. I don’t want to leave the house anymore,” Baldwin confessed. He even emphasized, “I don’t like it. I don’t want to work anymore. I really just want to retire and be with my kids.”

“I don’t want to work anymore. I really don’t want to work. I want to retire and stay home with my children.”

The incident that changed Baldwin’s life occurred on October 21, 2021, when he accidentally discharged a firearm on the set of “The Last,” killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza after being told the gun was safe to use.

Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed faced legal consequences for loading live ammunition into the weapon Baldwin fired.

In a further twist, the prosecution initiated a lawsuit against Baldwin after evidence withholding was established. Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, were seen together in court, where she visibly broke down during proceedings.

The couple shares seven children: Carmen, Rafael, Tomas, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, and Maria Lucia, who is just two years old.

Baldwin was also previously married to model Kim Basinger, and they have one daughter together, Ireland.
