Alec Baldwin charged with involuntary manslaughter over ‘Rust’ shooting

Alec Baldwin has been charged with manslaughter for the second time in connection with a fatal shooting on the set of the movie “The Last.”

The actor has been indicted by a grand jury in New Mexico over the death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins, who was struck by live ammunition from a prop gun for a scene she was rehearsing during filming in October 2021. An ill-fated western.

“The above defendants caused the death of Halina Hutchins by their actions with complete disregard for the safety of others,” the indictment obtained by the Post reads.

Baldwin has always denied the charges and maintained that he never pulled the trigger on that tragic day.

The film's director, Joel Souza, was also injured in an accidental gunfire.

Baldwin was previously indicted on the same charges by the Santa Fe District Attorney in January 2022.

He pleaded not guilty, but the charges were dropped in April of the same year after the case collapsed and it was determined that further testing was needed on the weapon that fired the bullet.

However, prosecutors have made it clear that the door to re-prosecution remains open.

Prosecutors have also charged Hanna Gutierrez Reed, an armorer in “The Last,” who oversaw the weapons on the film set, with similar charges.

She has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.

If convicted, Mr. Baldwin could be sentenced to 18 months in prison.
