Lawyers for actor Alec Baldwin have asked a New Mexico judge in the case that prosecutors acted unethically and failed to present key evidence to a grand jury in the shooting death on the set of the movie “The Last.” They are asking that related charges against him be dismissed.

Lawyers argued that the state violated “nearly every rule in the statute book” to convict Baldwin in the shooting death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins on a movie set.

“Enough is enough,” the lawyers wrote. “This is an abuse of the system and a mistreatment of innocent people whose rights were severely trampled,” they said in a court filing.

Baldwin is charged with criminal negligence. He fired a prop gun on the set of a Western movie, killing Hutchins. Baldwin said he did not know the gun was loaded with live ammunition.

Baldwin is scheduled to go to trial on July 9.
