Alec Baldwin has been heavily mocked for appearing on Saturday Night Live as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and mocking his raspy voice caused by a neurological disorder.
Saturday's episode began with comedian Dana Carvey playing “super lame duck” President Biden and “SNL's” James Austin Johnson playing President-elect Donald Trump.
The two mimicked Biden and Trump's historic Oval Office meeting last week, where the president-elect brought up some of his Cabinet nominees, including Baldwin, who plays RFK Jr.
“I'm honored to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Americans need someone like me, a 70-year-old with movie star looks and a brain bug, to teach them how to be healthy. Man,” says Baldwin’s RFK Jr.—the disgraced actor’s voice trembles, shamefully trying to make an effort. Mimics Kennedy's health.
Johnson's Trump said, “I love you, Bobby. I can't wait to see what you do for this country when it comes to health and the measles outbreak.”
Baldwin's RFK referred to Kennedy's notorious anti-vaccine views, saying, “I place great value in a woman's right to choose, to choose whether or not to give her child polio.'' ” he responded.
“Okay, I gotta go, there's a dead dolphin in my car. I might cut it in half and throw it in Central Park,” Baldwin's RFK says.
This summer, RFK bizarrely confessed to being one of the culprits who abandoned a baby bear in Central Park 10 years ago, and his daughter Kick revealed that her father had left a dead whale on the beach several years ago. He revealed that he had cut off the head of a man and tied it to his head. I put it on top of my family's minivan to take it home to study later.
Baldwin's negative impression of RFK was unpopular with many “SNL” viewers, who criticized Baldwin for mocking Kennedy's vocal condition due to paroxysmal dysphonia, which causes spasms in the vocal cords.
“Why? @Alec Baldwin I'm making fun of RFK's voice. That's pretty insensitive and in poor taste.” someone wrote.
another He said this in disbelief. “So now we’re making fun of neurological diseases?”
3rd X user He added: “Put an arrogant murderer on TV mocking a disabled patriot. If the right did this, the media would want bloodshed. Shame on you.”
Baldwin's appearance comes months after a judge dismissed a manslaughter charge in the 2021 death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins on the set of Baldwin's Western film The Last. Baldwin returned to SNL as a guest last month.
Some critics expressed outrage that the show kept inviting Baldwin back.
“SNL actually brought Alec Baldwin back to do the worst impersonation of RFK Jr. after he murdered a woman. This is what they did.” A reviewer of X wrote:,
Another X user There was a chime: “Did they really bring that dead Alec Baldwin back to life?? Just tell SNL to stop.”
a third critic tweeted“Who thinks that's funny? And who said anything about giving Alec Baldwin a second chance?”
