Actor Alec Baldwin said Americans face an information “gap,” adding that the film industry is helping fill it.
“There's sort of a gap in information for Americans,” Baldwin told reporters at the Turin Film Festival in Turin, Italy.reportedWritten by Mediaite.
“Americans are very ignorant about the reality, what's actually going on, about climate change, Ukraine, Israel, all the biggest topics in the world. Americans have a hunger for information.” he later added. The event featured awards and a screening of his film The Hunt for Red October.
Baldwin also suggested that this gap could be filled by the film industry, adding that this point in history is an important one to help inform people in that way.
“That void is being filled not only by the independent and documentary film industry, which is very important around the world, but also by feature films. Networks and streamers are moving in that direction, making films that are not only entertaining but also informative. “I'm very active in making films that are good,” he said.
“This is probably one of the most important times in our history to make films that educate people about what the reality is around the world,” Baldwin added.
