Shortly after Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, Alex Rodriguez, who was previously engaged to the Grammy winner, posted a cryptic message on Instagram.
“It’s up to me to decide which direction I want to go,” the retired MLB player was quoted as saying. The Con.cept’s Instagram Rodriguez reposted the image on her Instagram Story shortly after news of Lopez’s lawsuit broke.
It’s unclear who this cryptic message is directed to or what it refers to, but the post is certainly timely.

Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday Los Angeles County Superior Court. She filed for divorce on their second wedding anniversary in Georgia.
Representatives for Affleck and Lopez did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment at the time.
Rodriguez and Lopez officially called off their engagement in April 2021. The two began dating in 2017 and got engaged in 2019.

At the time, the former couple released a joint statement to “Today.”
“We have realized that we are better as friends and hope to remain so,” the statement said. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our mutual ventures and projects. We wish each other the best and the best for each other’s children. Out of respect for them, all we want to say is thank you everyone for the kind words and support.”
Shortly after the split, Lopez began dating ex-fiancé Affleck, but Rodriguez bore no ill will.

“Five years into it, I’ve had a great life and partnership and learned so much with my daughters,” Rodriguez told Entertainment Tonight during an interview in 2021. “So, I’m in a great place. I’m so grateful for where God and the light has led me and I’m really looking forward to it.”

“Ben didn’t come celebrate Jennifer’s birthday because their relationship is over,” a source told Fox News Digital last month. “It’s completely over. They have no plans to get back together.”
Earlier this year, the documentary “The Greatest Untold Love Story” showed Affleck reluctantly dealing with the public criticism levelled at the couple, who first began dating in the early 2000s.
The documentary follows Lopez as she works on her new album, “This is Me…Now,” as well as the high-concept music film, “This is Me…Now: A Love Story.”

“Jen was really touched by the experience. That’s the way artists work,” Affleck said. “They’re inspired by their private lives. They’re moved by them. And as a writer and director, I do the same thing. But I’ve always felt that the private things are sacred and special because they’re private.”
