Alex Soros marks Zohran Mamdani's win in NYC with a penthouse photo

Alex Soros Celebrates New York Election Win

Alex Soros, the son of billionaire philanthropist George Soros, recently shared a photo with his father in their penthouse, celebrating the electoral victory of Zoran Mamdani in New York City. His caption read, “The American dream continues!”

Expressing his pride, Alex posted on X, stating, “I’m so proud to be a New Yorker!” He extended his congratulations to Mayor Mamdani, emphasizing his local ties.

In 2022, Alex took over as chairman of the Open Society Foundations, which his father founded. This nonprofit, valued at $25 billion, has significantly financed left-leaning political efforts, including various elections.

Shortly after his win, Mamdani made an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where he advocated for increased taxes on the top 1% of earners in New York.

Support for Mamdani

Alex’s backing of Mamdani isn’t unexpected. The Open Society Foundations have contributed around $37 million to progressive organizations in the last decade, and they played a role in promoting Mamdani’s candidacy, as reported in July.

As a New Yorker himself, Alex Soros expressed satisfaction with his vote for the Democratic candidate. Meanwhile, opposing voices include Donald Trump, who labeled Mamdani a “communist” and has criticized the Soros family over their donations to liberal causes, even suggesting investigations into their activities.

Trump’s commentary on social media indicates ongoing contention regarding the Soros family’s influence in politics, particularly in New York.

This election has underscored a polarizing atmosphere as the city navigates its wealthy, progressive factions versus traditional political norms.
