Alexander Skarsgård Clarifies Sexuality Rumors

Alexander Skarsgård is addressing speculation about his sexuality. While at the Zurich Film Festival in October 2025 to promote his film “Pillion,” in which he portrays a biker involved in a BDSM relationship with a young man, he mentioned having dated both men and women. This led to assumptions that he might identify as bisexual.

However, in a recent interview, Skarsgård clarified that he hasn’t publicly identified as bisexual. He stated, “Does that resonate with my past? That was never my intended statement. I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Perhaps he’s just trying to manage the narrative.

He suggested that the focus should be on the story rather than his personal life, saying, “Maybe it has something to do with the amount of attention I get as an actor sometimes. I mean, we tried to shift the focus to the story and the characters.” It’s understandable; actors often find their personal lives under scrutiny.

The initial comments he made during the “Pillion” press conference had indeed confused many about his sexual orientation. Skarsgård noted, “It turns out that my background doesn’t really matter in this case. I mean, I have kids, but what I’ve done in the past, who I’ve been with, men, women.” His focus seems to be more on storytelling than self-exploration.

He emphasized the importance of depicting the subculture authentically, remarking, “What was important to me was that I felt like this was an opportunity to tell a story about a subculture that I hadn’t seen depicted in this way.” It’s refreshing to hear someone prioritize depth in storytelling.

A father since 2022, Skarsgård has welcomed a son with Swedish actress Tuva Novotny. He’s never been married and generally keeps his private life away from the public eye. In previous discussions, he shared how becoming a parent has shifted his priorities.

“I lived my life on the go. I love that aspect of the industry. It’s like a traveling circus,” he said about his earlier life. Yet now, with kids, he’s aiming for a balance. “I can’t be as selfish and narcissistic as I used to be.” It’s interesting how parenthood can frame one’s perspective.

Reflecting on his earlier years, he mentioned, “In the beginning, I didn’t have those responsibilities and I’m glad I could just be selfish.” Having kids altered his approach to work; now he ensures that his commitments benefit his family. It’s a thoughtful evolution in his process.
