All 12 jurors were seated Thursday, the third day of former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial in Manhattan.
“We have a jury,” Judge Juan Melchan said as the 12th juror was selected.
The 12 jurors and one alternate included seven men and six women.
According to the jury: NBC News:
— A man who lives in West Harlem and works in sales. He is married, likes to do “anything outdoors,” and gets his news from the New York Times, Fox News, and MSNBC.
— A man who works at an investment bank said he follows Trump’s Twitter and Truth Social posts and “doesn’t have any beliefs that would interfere with fairness or impartiality.”
— A young man who has lived in Chelsea for five years, works as a corporate lawyer, and loves hiking and running. He gets his news from the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Google.
— A male security engineer who likes woodworking and metalworking.
— A young woman who lives in Harlem and works as a teacher. She lives with her boyfriend and she loves writing, acting and traveling. She gets her news from her Google and her TikTok, and listens to podcasts about relationships and pop culture.
— A young woman who lives in Chelsea and works as a software engineer. She gets her news from the New York Times, Google, Facebook, and TikTok.
–A man who lives on the Upper East Side and works as a civil litigation lawyer. He likes to spend time outdoors and gets his news from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Post, and Washington Post.
— A retired man who worked for a major asset management company. He enjoys skiing, fly fishing and yoga, he said.
— A speech therapist gets her news from CNN and likes reality TV podcasts.
— A man who works in business, reads the New York Times, and listens to podcasts about behavioral psychology.
— A woman who works as a product development manager and watches late night news and reads Google, business, and fashion news.
— A physical therapist who loves running, tennis, and listening to podcasts about sports and faith.
As an alternative:
— A woman who works as an asset manager and loves running, hanging out with friends, and eating.
Twelve jurors and one alternate were sworn in. Additionally, she needs five substitutes.
Two jurors who were seated Tuesday were dismissed. One woman said she was concerned that her identity would be revealed and that her concerns could affect her ability to be impartial; He was a man who wanted to be removed from office.
Marchand instructed reporters to stop mentioning the appearance of jurors, and in particular to stop mentioning reports that identified them as having Irish accents.
He also lamented the loss of a juror who could have been beneficial to the case. It is not clear which juror he was referring to.
Marchan also asked reporters not to identify jurors’ former or current employers. “It became a problem,” he said.
The 48 people were summarily dismissed the same day, arguing that they were unable to serve as impartial and impartial jurors in the case.
The court will adjourn and resume at 9:30 a.m. Friday. A group of 22 jurors will return to complete a vetting questionnaire.
Marchan rejected a request by Trump’s lawyers to take Tuesday off for Passover to accommodate the religious needs of members of his legal team, granting only shortened sessions on Monday and Tuesday.
