Inmates Captured Following Louisiana Jailbreak

On Saturday, Louisiana State Police reported that they had apprehended all eight inmates who escaped from the Riverbend Detention Center in East Carroll Parish on Friday morning.

These individuals, labeled as “violent offenders,” made their escape around 1:20 a.m. Five of them were caught on Friday, while the last four were arrested early Saturday.

The inmates who were recaptured include Savion Wheeler (31), Hugo Molina (27), Trenton Taplin (29), Colin Ronnie (21), Kevin Slaughter Jr. (25), Destin Brogan (22), Krisian Salinas (21), and Coperon Vicknea (19).

It’s noteworthy that the last four to be arrested—Ronnie, Slaughter, Brogan, and Vicknair—were taken to Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, joining the five already there. What remains uncertain, however, is how they managed to escape in the first place, especially since three of them face murder charges.

This operation unfolded as part of a collaborative effort that included various local law enforcement agencies and federal organizations. State police highlighted the importance of teamwork during the incident, mentioning how they worked through challenges ranging from a severe winter storm to this high-profile escape.

“We often talk about partnership and cooperation, especially in times of need,” they noted in a Facebook post.

All captured inmates were photographed being escorted to a helicopter. The Louisiana Attorney General, Liz Murrill, commended the law enforcement’s quick response, calling their work “outstanding.”

Murrill expressed her gratitude in a statement, thanking the State Police and local agencies for their efficient handling of the situation. The quick retrieval of these inmates illustrates the dedication of the law enforcement community in Louisiana amid challenging circumstances.
