The 2025 NFL Regular Season Wraps Up
The 2025 NFL regular season has come to a close.
This marks one of the more challenging days on the league’s calendar.
While 14 teams are gearing up for a shot at Super Bowl LX, the other 18 teams are stepping into the offseason.
And for some coaches, it could be a chilly offseason.
Today is recognized as ‘Black Monday’, a day when franchises often make tough decisions regarding coaches who haven’t met expectations. Last year, notable firings included Jerrod Mayo, Doug Pederson, Mike McCarthy, and Antonio Pierce, while Robert Saleh, Dennis Allen, and Matt Eberflus faced the same fate during the 2024 season.
This year has already seen two coaches shown the door: Brian Daboll from the New York Giants and Brian Callahan from the Tennessee Titans.
As the season wraps up, more coaches could follow suit. You can keep tabs on the developments here. For insights on notable coaches to watch in the coming days, James Deiter has compiled a list.
Brian Callahan, Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans held the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Notably, this was the first instance of a head coach being let go this season.
Tennessee decided to part ways with Brian Callahan on October 13, just five weeks into the campaign. His exit was prompted by a series of questionable decisions, including overlooking a potential catch early in the season, leading some to wonder if he fully grasped the rules.
I mean, who really does that?
But changes aren’t stopping with Callahan in Tennessee. Recent updates indicate that the team will be restructuring its front office as they begin searching for a new coach. General manager Mike Borgonzi will oversee the coaching search and report directly to owner Amy Adams Strunk.
Brian Daboll, New York Giants
Next up, Brian Daboll also found his time cut short.
The Giants dismissed him after a rough start of 2-8, with repeated blows from double-digit leads playing a significant role in his firing. Daboll’s exit followed a game where the Giants held a 20-10 lead in the fourth quarter but allowed 14 points unanswered to end up losing 24-20.
It wasn’t the first time this season the Giants faltered. Earlier, they had a commanding 26-8 lead against the Denver Broncos, only to lose that match 33-32.
Raheem Morris, Atlanta Falcons
Both Callahan and Daboll were released during the season, but Black Monday emerged early in 2026.
The Atlanta Falcons secured a victory against the New Orleans Saints in their last game, boosting their record to 8-9 and sending the Carolina Panthers to the playoffs as NFC South champions. That win was the Falcons’ fourth consecutive victory.
Yet, it wasn’t sufficient to save Raheem Morris. After the win, the Falcons decided to part ways with Morris, even with players like Drake London and Bijan Robinson backing him. His tenure in Atlanta will now come to a close after eight or nine seasons.
The Falcons’ general manager, Terry Fontenot, was also reportedly fired.
