Indiana Fever’s Kate Linklerk Out with Injury

Indiana Fever guard Kate Linklerk will not play in his third consecutive game after announcing on Tuesday that he will remain sidelined due to a groin injury sustained during the Commissioner Cup Championship Game against the Minnesota Lynx.

This news follows previous status updates, indicating that Linklerk’s absence doesn’t count toward the team’s regular season rankings.

Interestingly, just the day before, Linklerk expressed optimism regarding his condition, stating, “I feel better. I’ll be on a daily basis from now on. I do everything I can to prepare for the next game. That’s always my goal.”

This marks a tough stretch for Linklerk, who had already missed five games earlier this season because of a quad injury. The timing is particularly challenging as the Fever are set to face off against the league-leading Lynx in an all-star matchup.

Linklerk’s head coach, Stephanie White, indicated earlier this week that his activities are currently limited to “non-contact shooting drills.” She emphasized the need for careful progress in his recovery process.

Despite these challenges, Linklerk has averaged 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game this season, showcasing his importance to the team. Meanwhile, the Lynx, last season’s champions, look to retain their title with a commanding 14-2 record so far this year.
