Investigation into the Clinton Foundation Blocked by Federal Agency

Reports indicate that a federal agency, under Democratic leadership, has halted an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. This information was uncovered by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa.

The controversy traces back to 2015 when Peter Schweitzer, the president of the Government Accountability Institute, published “Clinton Cash.” In this book, he alleged that Bill and Hillary Clinton were involved in pay-to-play schemes and bribery linked to foundation donors. This prompted the Justice Department and FBI to launch an investigation into the Foundation, but their efforts were eventually abandoned.

On Monday, Grassley revealed “behind-the-scenes” records that indicate top leadership from the Obama-Biden administration intervened to prevent investigators from probing the financial transactions related to the Clinton Foundation. He stated that these findings show the FBI leadership obstructed investigative efforts.

In an email from July 20, 2016, obtained by Grassley’s office, an FBI Criminal Investigation Division agent mentioned that agents were restricted from issuing subpoenas due to the sensitive nature of the Clinton Foundation’s situation. The email specified that the FBI didn’t want to appear as if they were actively investigating the Foundation or the Clintons.

Grassley also mentioned that records reveal the FBI barred the investigative team from accessing potentially damaging evidence stored on Anthony Weiner’s laptop in November 2016.

When President Trump’s administration reopened the investigation in 2017, it was allegedly found that the Justice Department’s previous documents did not include crucial details about past interference from Justice Department and FBI officials. A court reportedly concluded that this interference undermined the investigation by citing a “conflict of interest” among Justice Department leadership.

Grassley expressed frustration regarding the media’s portrayal of the investigation into Clinton, suggesting legitimate leads pursued by investigators were blocked by politically motivated leadership. He contrasted this with the way the Biden Justice Department conducted its own investigations, emphasizing that the Department has favored certain individuals over others instead of maintaining impartiality under the law.

He concluded by thanking Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel for releasing the records, which he believes reveal the shortcomings of the Justice Department in this investigation.
