The U.S. Army confirmed that Sgt. Matthew Alan Reiblesberger was on vacation when he was reported killed in the New Year's Day explosion. On Friday, an email purported to be from Libersberger appeared on social media, revealing his thoughts days before the incident.

An email sent to Sam Shumate, a retired U.S. Army intelligence officer, said: “First, I am not under any coercion or hostile influence or control. My first car was a 2006 model for verification purposes. It was a black Ford Mustang V6,” it began.
Shumate read the email on the “Sean Ryan Podcast” and published it in an email, which authorities confirmed was written by the suspect.
“What we've seen with 'drones' is China recently operating aircraft with gravity propulsion systems on the East Coast, but also the United States throughout history,” he continued. “Only we and China have this capability. Our public location for this activity in this box is below. China has been firing from submarines in the Atlantic for years, but this activity… has recently become more active. Libersberger went on to say that drones are “the most dangerous threat to national security that has ever existed.”
He claimed that either the FBI or the Department of Homeland Security was tracking him and digitally tracking him.
“I have knowledge of this program and the war crimes that were covered up by the administration, the Department of Defense, the DEA, and the CIA during airstrikes in Nimruz Province, Afghanistan in 2019. Investigators are trying to uncover the events leading up to the explosion. They believe Libersberger rented a Cybertruck from Touro's rental service and stuffed various explosives in the back. The man was found with a gunshot wound to the head, and investigators believe he committed suicide before the explosives detonated.
Libersberger had separated from his wife several days before the incident.
