A Florida man said he chased Vodkaspritzer into the middle of a car chase after being told he had stole some items from a convenience store.
Deputies for the Highland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Spring Lake Market on Saturday after 39-year-old Richard Christopher Smith took items out of the market, which contained some alcoholic beverages.

When deputies arrived, Smith fled to the vehicle and urged him to pursue it, the sheriff’s office said.
“During this pursuit, Smith drove a can of Ketel, a lieutenant attempting to stop him, and told the lieutenant, “I was going to give you a drink.” “I don’t know if he expected us to say ‘cheers’. And let him go, or what? ”
A few minutes later, the chase was finished in the parking lot of the Sebring Regional Airport business.

After toast, Miami resident Smith tried to attack two patrol vehicles as all four of his tires were flattened by spike strips, police said.
Authorities were shaking as he quietly tried to leave the scene while smoking a cigarette.
“You guys had fun, right?” he asked them.
He eventually listened in the middle of his smoke break and was arrested.

Smith is charged with two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officers, battery of law enforcement officers, two counts resisting arrest, DUI, submission to a DUI test and refusal to stolen petite theft.
His bond was set at $120,000.
