A Laredo, Texas, man is facing human trafficking charges after leading a Department of Public Safety officer on a high-speed chase that ended with the arrest of a suspected illegal immigrant smuggler and a migrant wanted in Wisconsin.
Texas Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez posted a video to social media showing officers chasing a suspected human trafficker, during which the driver can be seen dangerously weaving between cars and fleeing against the flow of traffic.

The driver, later identified as Eduardo Reyes of Laredo, jumped out of the vehicle and was pursued by police. Officers quickly caught up with Reyes and detained him. Police also arrested four suspected illegal immigrants and handed them over to Border Patrol agents.
Olivarez said Reyes is now charged with felony counts of human trafficking and evading arrest by vehicle.
Another high-speed chase occurred in Maverick County earlier this week, with video released by Lt. Olivarez showing dashcam and helicopter camera footage of the driver crashing through a gate at a private ranch.
Five counts of criminal damage to property, five counts of criminal trespass, and one count of fleeing arrest on foot.
DPS helicopter cameras followed the truck as the driver tried to find a place to hide in the brush, and the video shows the driver crashing through another fence on the ranch, causing extensive property damage.
The driver then crashed into bushes and six people were ejected from the truck.
A nearby Border Patrol horse patrol joined in the foot pursuit, and their efforts, in conjunction with a DPS brush team and helicopter crew, led to the arrest of Carlos Alberto Urbina Miralda, an illegal immigrant from Mexico and suspected human trafficker.
Task force officers also arrested five other immigrants, including Mexican national Nestor Farid Garcia Morales, who a records check revealed had six outstanding warrants for his arrest from the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin.
The driver is currently charged with five counts of human smuggling, five counts of criminal trespass, five counts of criminal damage to property, evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The National Guard also arrested the migrants, who are facing state charges including five counts of criminal damage to property, five counts of criminal trespass and one count of fleeing arrest on foot.
