Mother Advocates for Larger Families at CPAC
During her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, conservative mother Isabel Brown passionately advocated for increasing the number of children families have. Her comments received mixed reactions, particularly from the women on “The View.”
Sunny Hostin expressed her disagreement, stating that it is irresponsible to urge people to have children amidst a significant affordability crisis in the nation. She pointed out that the cost of raising a child can exceed $400,000 for a couple, and accused Brown of supporting the idea of children being born into poverty, which she believes leads to issues such as lack of education and proper housing.
Hostin further noted that the government appears to be cutting essential services that help families thrive.
On the other hand, Allie Beth Stuckey, a Blaze TV host, pushed back against Hostin’s critique, branding it as “excessive, inaccurate, and absurd.” She argued that while having children does involve sacrifices, the notion that a family needs to earn nearly $500,000 a year just to raise kids is unfounded.
Whitney Cummings also joined in on the discussion, sharing her personal experience as a mother. She joked that, while her daughter Isabel may think everyone should have many children because her own baby sleeps frequently, the reality of having a more active child is quite different.
Stuckey chimed in, explaining that the demanding nature of a one-year-old, who is often energetic and mobile, can indeed make parenting tough. Cummings seemed to align with Stuckey’s assessment, acknowledging the challenges parents face as children grow.
Despite having three children herself, Stuckey was perceived by Hostin and Cummings as someone who prioritizes convenience and luxury over family life. Stuckey shared a clip of a woman on TikTok discussing how focusing on personal needs instead of motherhood is a valid choice to criticize this mentality as unselfish.
