A recent poll reveals that 72 percent of Democrats either support or have no strong feelings about a military coup against President Donald Trump, viewing it as a means to “protect the Constitution.” This comes alongside a similar percentage advocating for his criminal prosecution.
Conducted by the Center for Strategic Politics and Liberal Currents, the survey questioned 683 Democratic voters about their preferred approaches to American political issues. One notable question probed respondents’ reactions to waking up to various scenarios in which Trump was no longer in office.
An impressive 86 percent expressed positive sentiments towards the idea of Trump being impeached and removed by Congress. Similarly, 84 percent would feel good about Trump’s Cabinet invoking the 25th Amendment to declare him unfit for office.
To add more dimensions, 56 percent said they would feel positive if Trump were to die in his sleep, while 31 percent would have favorable feelings about hearing he was assassinated during a rally.
Additionally, 59 percent of the Democrats surveyed said they would react positively if military leaders were to remove Trump from power to protect the Constitution, while 13 percent claimed to feel neutral about it. Only 28 percent expressed that they would have a negative reaction if the military intervened to remove him.

The survey also delved into Democrat views on pursuing criminal prosecution against actions taken by Trump’s administration. When asked, 77 percent agreed that officials in Trump’s administration should face legal consequences for their immigration policies, while 73 percent believed that Stephen Miller, the White House’s homeland security adviser, should be prosecuted for his role in those policies.
Moreover, 72 percent supported legal action against the administration for its drone strikes targeting drug trafficking boats off the coast of South America, and 57 percent indicated that both Trump and Biden administration officials should be held accountable for actions regarding Israel’s conflict in Gaza.
Regarding U.S. military involvement in Iran, 66 percent of Democrats expressed the need for prosecutions, and 69 percent argued that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth should face criminal charges for his role in purported violations of national and international law.

When reflecting on who they might prefer in office today, the response was interesting. Seventy percent of those polled viewed Vice President Kamala Harris favorably, while 66 percent had a positive opinion of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Additionally, another 70 percent viewed former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg positively.
On the flip side, current approval ratings for Trump, as reported by The New York Times, were just 37 percent as of Tuesday. This paints a stark contrast.
Moreover, a majority of Democrats indicated support for various progressive policies, including packing the Supreme Court, accepting more immigrants, and abolishing the filibuster.
