Almost Two Million Students in England Speak English as a Second Language

Recent reports indicate that around 2 million students are non-native English speakers, a situation attributed to the mass immigration policies enacted by the government.

A freedom of information request from the Daily Mail showed that in 2,039 UK schools, most students do not speak English as their first language.

The findings revealed that about 1.8 million students, which amounts to one in five, do not have English as their primary language.

For example, at Kobinazru Elementary School in Tower Hamlets, London, a staggering 92% of students speak Bengali at home, with none indicating English as their first language.

Another instance noted was the Kirklees School of Pentland Toddlers in Dewsbury, where most students primarily communicate in Indian languages.

The proportion of students who do not speak English as their main language has seen a marked increase over the last decade, coinciding with high levels of immigration sustained by successive governments.

Currently, there are approximately 700,000 more non-native English-speaking students than there were ten years ago.

In light of these statistics, Robert Bates from the Immigration Control Center commented, “It’s disappointing we’ve reached this stage, showing a clear failure of successive governments in handling assimilation.”

He further stated that “multi-lingual classrooms present significant challenges, as teachers naturally have to divide their focus, often prioritizing those with language skills over those who are learning English.”

Alp Mehmet, the chairman of Migration Watch UK, expressed similar concerns.

He remarked, “If educators are compelled to concentrate on students struggling to communicate in English due to various home languages, this inevitably takes time away from others.”

This report emerges during heightened discussions about the demographic shifts in the country. Last month, Professor Matt Goodwin cautioned that, if trends persist, the UK could see its population shift to a minority by 2063.

Additionally, the report anticipates that by the century’s end, only about 22.7% of the population will be white, driven by extensive migration changes.

Demographic shifts are already evident in many schools, with white British students becoming minorities in classrooms across 25,000 primary and secondary schools last month.
