Rebel Wilson has revealed that she became fatally ill from insects as a child, which led to her developing a severe phobia of all insects.
The famous actress spoke about her terrifying experience in a recent interview. Us Weekly“I’ve always had bug anxiety… [since] “I grew up in Australia, where there are a lot of bugs,” Wilson told the magazine, then reflected on the events that sparked her fear of bugs, which she continues to this day. “But one of the biggest turning points was when I got malaria when I was 18,” she said. “I woke up one morning in the African bush with like 100 mosquito bites on my face,” she told Us Weekly.

Wilson, best known for his roles in Bridesmaids, Isn’t It Romantic and Pitch Perfect, spoke about the seriousness of the disease he contracted, and easily justified the fear he still feels when he thinks about the creepy bugs.
“I was in hospital for two weeks,” she said, “it was so bad I could have died.”
Wilson explained that since he had malaria, he could not tolerate insects of any kind under any circumstances.

“I remember when I was at my mum’s house there were always these little gnats flying around the fruit bowl and I hated them,” she said, recalling her nightmare. “Especially after you have a baby, you don’t want little bugs crawling around in your house.”(RELATED: Famous actress Rebel Wilson says she was paid a pittance for her role in a hit movie)
Wilson explained that, given the situation, she cares deeply about her baby. The famous actress and her fiancée, Ramona Agulma, have a daughter together named Lois Lillian, who is now 19 months old.
