Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former White House aide and co-host of “The View,” made an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where she discussed what she deemed her first loss following the 2024 election against President Trump. She expressed concerns about issues she sees within the Democratic Party since the presidential election in November.
“I was struck by how this interview seemed to represent a lot of the errors made by the Democrats post-election. I mean, I’m heading to CBS, heading to CBS. It’s like the vibe of CNN,” she commented.
“He incurred a loss of $40 million annually, and he was at the costly Ed Sullivan Theater discussing CBS’s democracy format. It focused on economic aspects rather than engaging with a smaller audience on network television. It was like a discussion of playing for a reduced audience rather than understanding that being a co-host doesn’t mean simply saying ‘CONN’s Table,’ but rather to genuinely engage with those who aren’t in the mainstream,” she remarked.
CBS announced back in mid-July that it would end “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in May 2026, citing a “financial decision.”
This late-night appearance was Harris’ first interview since her loss to Trump in the last presidential race.
On Wednesday, the former vice president announced she won’t be entering the 2026 California governor’s race, elaborating on her choice.
“I really don’t want to return to that system, which I believe is broken. I want to travel the country, listen to people, talk with them. I’d like to vote for them,” she stated.
When questioned on Thursday’s episode about who should lead the Democratic Party, Harris responded that it was a mistake to place that responsibility solely on one individual, as it would only exacerbate dwindling approval ratings and lack of enthusiasm.
“We all need to take responsibility,” she emphasized.
Farah Griffin has previously been critical of Trump, citing that she felt there were advisers during the 2024 election who weren’t providing the best guidance. “I told Harris it was a poor choice, feeling it was akin to announcing an exploration committee while the Titanic was sinking,” she added.
