Alyssa Farah Griffin Criticizes Gavin Newsom for His Reckless Scaremongering Regarding Upcoming Elections

Debate on California Elections

Alyssa Farrah Griffin, a co-host on “The View,” engaged in a lively discussion with her fellow panelists about recent comments made by California Governor Gavin Newsom regarding future elections under President Donald Trump. Griffin took issue with Newsom’s alarming predictions, arguing that it was “totally irresponsible” for him to make such claims without any substantial evidence.

She emphasized that as the governor of the most populous state, Newsom has significant authority over the election process, including cybersecurity and oversight of election officials. “He has the power to ensure that California will have free and fair elections,” Griffin stated. In her view, rather than making grim forecasts, Newsom should focus on reassuring voters about the election’s integrity.

In another vein, California residents are facing Proposition 50, which proposes that state officials redraw congressional district maps to favor Democrats starting in 2026, potentially jeopardizing the positions of several Republican House representatives.

Griffin argued that instead of manipulating district boundaries, Newsom should use his influence to guarantee fair elections. She pointed to frustrations surrounding gerrymandering in Texas, suggesting that if California were to follow suit, it would merely perpetuate a cycle of unfairness. “We should secure our elections and let voters know they can trust the process,” she added.

Co-host Sunny Hostin countered, saying that Newsom couldn’t assure a fair election while federal observers tied to the Trump administration are monitoring the process. California is under scrutiny for its perceived lack of voter ID laws and the delays in vote certification.

In 2021, Newsom signed legislation making vote-by-mail ballots permanent for all registered voters, alongside a bill that prohibited local governments from requiring voter identification at polling places. The Justice Department’s decision to send election observers came after concerns were raised by the chairman of the California Republican Party regarding certain counties.
