Amanda Knox has been found guilty of libel again by an Italian court for naming an innocent man as the killer of her British roommate.

On Wednesday, a Florence judge sentenced Knox to three years in prison for falsely accusing Congros Bar owner Patrick Lumumba of the murder of his former roommate, Meredith Kercher.
However, because Knox had already served nearly four years in prison before her murder conviction was overturned, “it is not expected that she will serve any time in prison,” the statement said.
Italy overturned Knox’s defamation conviction in 2019 after the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Italian law enforcement had violated her rights during interrogation. Italy’s highest court has asked the court of Florence to hold a new trial to determine whether Knox committed defamation in her notes.
Knox arrived at the court in Florence, Italy, with her husband, Christopher Robinson, on Wednesday morning. The hearing was scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
She appeared in court for about 10 minutes and spoke in Italian about why she had included Lumumba’s name in her statement.
She said she had no intention of harming Lumumba, who she said was “not only my employer” but also a friend who had comforted her after her roommate’s death. After a lengthy police interrogation, she said she was tired and confused when she said Lumumba’s name.
“I deeply regret that I was not strong enough to resist police pressure,” Knox told the committee. “I did not know who the killer was. I had no way of knowing.”
Knox went on to say that the hearing is scheduled in “the very courtroom where I was convicted again of a crime I did not commit,” and that she will be attending this time “to once again defend myself.”
She later posted on social media, “I wish to completely clear my name from the false accusations made against me. Best of luck to me.”
In 2009, Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted of murder.
However, that conviction was overturned two years later in 2011. However, in 2014, she was convicted of murder again.
Then in 2015, the country’s highest court explicitly acquitted her and Sollecito of all charges related to the murder.
Karcher’s ex-boyfriend, Rudi Herman Guede, served a 13-year sentence for murder and was released in 2021. However, he said: [also] In 2023, an Italian judge issued a restraining order against him for allegedly abusing his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend.” La Stampa report.
according to CNNProsecutors previously believed Kercher’s throat was slashed when he refused to take part in a drug-fueled orgy with Guede, Sollecito and Knox.
