Amazon gets exclusive streaming deal for 2024 NFL playoff game

Another streaming platform will carry exclusive games from the 2024 NFL postseason.

After Peacock streamed the Wild Card Round matchup between the Chiefs and Dolphins this season, Amazon will have a shot at next season’s postseason games. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

Amazon decided not to host this year’s game, but the deal to broadcast Thursday Night Football games allows it to acquire next year’s playoff games, the paper said.

Peacock aired the wild-card weekend game this year in a deal worth about $110 million, but the game was not broadcast in off-network markets, sparking controversy and criticism from New York state lawmakers. Ta.we

The game ended up becoming the most live-streamed event in U.S. history, with an average of 23 million viewers watching as the Chiefs won 26-7.

Peacock also gained 2.8 million subscribers in the three days before the playoff game, according to subscription research firm Antenna.

There has been no announcement from the league or Amazon regarding Prime Video playoff games, but it would theoretically allow legendary broadcaster Al Michaels to reconvene postseason NFL contests.

Michaels was originally scheduled to be part of NBC’s playoff coverage this season, but was removed from those plans.

The play-by-play man is headlining Thursday night games on Prime Video, so he will likely be in attendance for this playoff contest.
