Amazon Prime Big Deal Days broke records as the e-commerce site's largest October shopping event ever, the company announced Thursday.
Amazon held Prime Big Deal Days on Tuesday and Wednesday. The two-day event offered members a number of sales and promotions.
Amazon has not released specific sales figures for the Prime event, but The company says Prime members around the world have saved more than $1 billion. Across millions of transactions.
Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, said in a statement: “The 2024 Prime Big Deal Day event is a huge success due to record sales and participation from Prime members around the world. “This is a great start to the holiday shopping season.”
More Prime members shopped at this year's Big Deal Day than at last year's event.
Amazon saw increased sales and more items sold during the two-day sale than any other event in October.
Independent sellers also won big, reaching record sales compared to last October's event.
“People are looking for deals because the economy is not as good as it used to be,” Jay Kamhi, developer of the fortune-telling toy “Mr. Predict” and president of Amazon toy retailer Kamhi World, previously told the Post. spoke.
Prime members enjoyed deals across categories including electronics, home goods, toys, beauty and apparel, giving customers the opportunity to stock up on gifts ahead of the busy holiday shopping season.

Popular brands like Dyson, Mattel, Levi's, and Apple launched sales during the Amazon event.
Top-selling brands and products at the two-day event included trending skin care, including: laneigeInnisfree and Sulwhasoo. Gadgets like Apple AirPods and smartwatches. Popular children's toys from Barbie, Fisher-Price, American Girl, Play-Doh, and Nerf. This also includes household items such as carpet cleaners, vacuum cleaners, and air purifiers.
Prime members have access to innovative tools such as: Amazon's AI-powered shopping Rufus the assistant and his visual shopping tool Amazon Lens.
Amazon's Prime Events are an effort to increase the number of Prime members, increasing loyalty and creating more repeat customers.
The company said a record number of customers signed up for Prime membership in the three weeks leading up to Big Deal Day compared to the weeks before the event last October.

Amazon is also focusing on improving delivery speed this year. The company said it expects to be able to deliver products at the fastest speed ever in 2024.
“The shift from brick-and-mortar stores to online shopping continues to grow,” Evolved Commerce co-founder Gabe Ray previously told the Post.
While online shopping was previously considered to be a fad among younger generations, “more and more older generations are also embracing online shopping, making it easier for them to embrace it.” said Mr. Ray.
