Ambassador States Pair Shot Near Jewish Museum Were Preparing to Get Engaged

Shooting Incident at Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.

During a late-night press conference, the Israeli ambassador reported that two staff members from the Israeli Embassy were filmed near the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening.

According to a writer, the couple shot during the incident was young and engaged, with the man reportedly purchasing an engagement ring in Jerusalem just this week. The couple was identified as Yaron Lisinsky and Sarah Milgrim.

Authorities have named Elias Rodriguez, 30, from Chicago, Illinois, as the prime suspect in the shootings, as stated by Metropolitan Police Department Premier Pamela A. Smith. Rodriguez allegedly shouted “Free and Free Palestine” while being taken into custody.

The writer described the couple as “a beautiful couple who came to enjoy the evening at the Cultural Center in Washington.” They expressed the resilience of both Israelis and Americans, emphasizing a united front against political violence.

Following the shootings, the writer mentioned a conversation with President Donald Trump, who asserted his commitment to tackling anti-Semitism.

Smith detailed that before the shootings, Rodriguez was seen pacing outside the museum. He allegedly approached a group of four individuals, drew a handgun, and opened fire, hitting both victims. After the incident, he entered the museum, was taken into custody, and identified where he had disposed of the weapon, suggesting his involvement in the crime.

An investigation is currently ongoing. Steve Jenson, assistant director of the FBI Washington Field Office, confirmed that the FBI would assist in the investigation and examine potential links to terrorism and hate crimes.
