Amber Rose Defends Billie Eilish Amid Backlash
Amber Rose has reached out for public sympathy as Billie Eilish garners criticism for her political remarks during the Grammy Awards. In a lengthy Instagram post, Rose expressed her disapproval of Eilish and others for exacerbating tensions.
“I think we should extend more compassion to Billie Eilish,” Rose stated. “At just 24, she believes she’s making a difference. Honestly, I was her age once too. It took my dad a lot of patience to help me understand that my views and feelings could be misguided.”
She went on to reveal her own past experiences, admitting she was influenced by misleading leftist media. In reflecting on her involvement in protests regarding sexual assault, she noted, “We’ve raised substantial funds for victims, yet it feels like a legacy I can’t fully endorse.”
Rose emphasized the positive qualities of undocumented individuals, acknowledging their humanity. Yet, she also pointed out, “They need to follow the legal process, just as countless others have done. The law is the law, and that needs to be respected. Billie and her peers believe they’re being helpful, but I truly feel they are making things worse. If you have a platform, use it wisely. America first!”
Eilish, while accepting the Grammy Award for Song of the Year on February 1st, addressed immigration issues. Her speech included heartfelt gratitude but also a poignant remark about the notion of living on “stolen land.”
“It’s challenging to navigate what to express in times like these,” Eilish remarked. “But I feel a sense of hope. Our voices matter and, frankly, f— ICE.”
Celebrated for her song “Wildflower,” Eilish also donned an “ICE OUT” pin, demonstrating solidarity with the cause.
This year’s Grammy Awards saw a notable shift towards political discourse, with several artists voicing pro-immigrant sentiments during their acceptance speeches, a rarity for the event. Bad Bunny, who secured the premier award of the night, dedicated his speech to the political environment, urging against the actions of ICE, and stating, “We are human, we are Americans.”
