An American couple on a “dream” boat trip to the Caribbean are feared dead after their yacht was allegedly stolen by an escaped convict.

In 2013, Kathleen Blundell and Ralph Hendry sold their home in Alexandria, Virginia, and decided to spend the rest of their days sailing around the world on a yacht named Simplicity.

The retired couple was last seen on the Caribbean island of Grenada last week. However, their yacht was later found “anchored and abandoned” on nearby St. Vincent Island, about 80 miles away.

The couple, who had been together for 27 years, went missing.

The escaped prisoners were located in St. Vincent and rearrested on February 21, the Royal Grenada Police Force said.

Police believe the American couple may have been killed by the fugitives.

Viv Osborne, president of the Salty Dawg Sailing Association, said: “This is a very upsetting incident and although the details have not yet been confirmed by authorities, it certainly appears to be a tragic event. I said this on a Caribbean cruise.” I’ve never heard of anything like this. ”
