‘America’s Got Talent’ Contestant Emily Gold Dead By Apparent Suicide At Age 17

Emily Gold, a high school dancer and cheerleader who appeared on “America's Got Talent,” died in an apparent suicide on Friday. She was 17 years old.

Gold, a Los Osos High School student and reality TV contestant, was found dead under a bridge on the eastbound 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga, California, at 11:52 p.m. Police sources said he appears to have jumped from an overpass and landed on the freeway below. “Officers from the California Highway Patrol's Rancho Cucamonga Sector responded to a pedestrian who was walking in the traffic lanes,” California Highway Patrol spokesman Rodrigo Jimenez said, according to People magazine.

“When officers arrived on scene, they found a 17-year-old female who had been struck by at least one other vehicle in the carpool lanes of eastbound I-210,” Jimenez said. “The female was pronounced deceased from her injuries.”

According to TMZ, initial reports indicate that the California Highway Patrol received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian had been struck in a carpool lane and were able to confirm that at least one vehicle had struck Gold when they arrived on scene. The vehicles did not stop, and it's unclear whether the driver realized they had hit someone, according to TMZ.

Gold performed with her Los Osos High School dance team on “America's Got Talent” in May, wowed the audience and received a standing ovation from Simon Cowell. The team made it to the quarterfinals before being eliminated in August.
