St. Brown Faces Fine Over Game Incident

Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions will be lighter in the wallet soon, as he has been fined $12,172 by the NFL for his involvement in a scuffle during Week 10. Reports indicate that St. Brown appeared to strike Washington Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne in the facemask.

Interestingly, despite claims that St. Brown instigated the situation, it was Payne who got ejected from the game. The Lions ended up winning, defeating the Commanders 44-22.

In another twist, the officiating crew didn’t flag St. Brown at any point during the play. It remains uncertain whether they observed his initial actions. However, they did see Payne’s punch, which led to his ejection. Following that incident, Payne received a one-game suspension and missed the Commanders’ narrow 16-13 overtime loss to the Miami Dolphins, marking a historic game as it was the first NFL match held in Madrid.

Meanwhile, St. Brown generated headlines with a celebratory dance he performed in honor of President Donald Trump during the same game. He caught a 9-yard pass from quarterback Jared Goff in the first quarter before celebrating. It’s noteworthy that Trump was present at the game, becoming the first sitting U.S. president to attend an NFL regular season match since Jimmy Carter in 1978.

St. Brown later expressed some regret for any offense his dance may have caused. “If I offended anyone, I apologize. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I was just having fun,” he stated on his podcast, co-hosted by his brother, Equanimeous St. Brown. He added, “If the president had been at that game, and he was dancing, I would have been dancing, too. It didn’t matter who the president was.”

This season, St. Brown has accumulated 693 receiving yards and scored eight touchdowns. Looking ahead, the Lions are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
