Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s Repetitive Humor Sparks Online Conversation

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) has long been known for her tendency to tell the same joke repeatedly, a trait that has become a part of her public persona. Recently, she’s adopted this familiar style for a different purpose.

Her latest quip, “Time to get out the shirt,” has caught the attention of social media users as it appears Klobuchar—or perhaps her team—has revived a familiar routine.

According to Town Hall columnist Dustin Grage, Klobuchar has shared the same photo to mark a Minnesota Vikings game four years in a row. The variations between the posts seem minimal, if they exist at all.

In 2023, she announced she was “getting ready” to watch the game in her shirt that reads “Optimistic since 1961,” referencing the team’s first season and its lack of Super Bowl victories.

Then, in 2024, the same image reappeared for an October 20 match against the Detroit Lions, accompanied by the identical caption.

In 2025, following another game against the Lions, she shared a slightly altered post, “Yes, Vikings!” featuring the now cropped photo along with the familiar tagline.

For the 2026 season opener, Klobuchar’s post on her X account declared, “Game Day against the Packers. Time to get out the shirt,” once again paired with a similar cropped image.

Interestingly, she also posted a video on X in January 2023 wearing the identical shirt.

This pattern of behavior usually suggests a light-hearted joke, yet it often raises questions about where the humor begins and the genuine Klobuchar ends.

Currently a candidate for Minnesota’s governorship, Klobuchar has also been noted for using the same joke multiple times, particularly during the 2020 Democratic primaries. At various events, she would recount a time when President Trump called her “snow woman” on social media, finishing her anecdote with, “I’d like to see how your hair would fare in a blizzard,” and branding Trump as “Mr. Umbrella Man.”

Alongside this reputation, stories about Klobuchar’s off-camera behavior have circulated for years. There are claims she once resorted to eating a salad with a comb after her staff forgot to bring utensils on a short flight.

A New York Times article noted that it was “typical” of Klobuchar to express frustration towards her staff following such mishaps, allegedly directing the aide to clean the comb after their meal.

While a campaign spokesperson dismissed these narratives as “ridiculous,” they did not explicitly deny them.

A different rumor about Klobuchar eventually made its way into the series “Veep,” suggesting she had a staff member shave her legs. The joke evolved into a line about someone having done that under a desk during a Cabinet meeting.

According to the Washington Examiner, Klobuchar’s team has denied this story, labeling it completely false and “ridiculous.”

Inquiries made by Blaze News to Klobuchar’s office regarding her practice of reposting the same image each year did not receive a prompt response.

Interestingly, the Vikings’ record when Klobuchar shares her game-day photo currently stands at two wins and two losses.
