The British Olympic Association (BOA) has launched an investigation into allegations that GB rugby sevens player Amy Wilson-Hardy sent racist messages.
Wilson-Hardy was removed from the team for what the BOA described as “health reasons.”
What appears to be a screenshot of a now-deleted conversation was leaked on Instagram, showing the England forward sending a picture over WhatsApp wearing a black face mask.
“A real chocolate face,” wrote the anonymous recipient of the photo.
Wilson Hardy responded, “I thought black people had a better chance.”
“The British Olympic Association is aware of the images posted on social media platforms and is investigating,” a BOA spokesman said. Sun.
The release of the screenshot has sparked further controversy across social media platforms.
“She can delete any number of Instagram posts. It’s been seen. She’s a racist. No amount of apology will change that. She’s a racist at heart.” A user wrote to X.
Another user Ms Wilson-Hardy countered that she may have been referring to the New Zealand rugby team, the All Blacks, saying: “It was clearly not racism – the black people she was referring to were the New Zealand rugby team!”
The star player from Poole, Dorset made her debut for England in 2013, played at the Rio 2016 Rugby Tournament and was named in the squad for the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup.
She won a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Paris will be her second Olympic Games and she played in the quarterfinals on Monday against the United States, which lost 17-7, ending Britain’s gold medal hopes.
She has played in the Six Nations Championship multiple times.
