An Epstein Joke Was Here, But It Was Removed

Shane Gillis Roasts Various Figures at ESPY Awards

Comedian Shane Gillis took aim at several notable figures during his monologue at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday night, targeting everyone from Caitlyn Clark to Donald Trump, Jeffrey Epstein, and Aaron Rodgers.

Gillis showed no mercy as he delivered jokes, clearly an equal-opportunity comedian. He referred to Trump’s desire to start a UFC fight on the White House lawn, mentioning Mike Pence’s last fight in D.C. was, well, not too pretty.

He also poked fun at the Trump administration’s comments regarding the Epstein files, quipping that there was supposed to be a joke about it but maybe it got “deleted.” He mused, “Perhaps it didn’t even exist… Let’s just move on as a country and ignore it.”

According to sources, the Trump administration’s DOJ and FBI stated there was no evidence linking Epstein to a client list and they had looked into Epstein’s suicide. Despite some backlash, Trump defended Attorney General Pam Bondy, suggesting her briefing was straightforward but that the findings were unreliable.

In another part of his monologue, Gillis joked about his fictional relationship with former Patriots coach Bill Belichick, quipping that Belichick reads to his girlfriend at bedtime, even mentioning a kids’ book.

Not every punchline hit home, though; one joke even elicited boos from the audience.

Gillis made a comment about Joe Rogan aiming to host the show to catch Adam Silver, humorously suggesting Rogan thought Silver might be an alien. He also took a shot at Caitlyn Clark, remarking on her future after the WNBA in a manner that left some viewers divided.

He ended that segment by suggesting Clark could work at Waffle House, alluding to continuing her passions in unconventional ways. The mixed reactions from the crowd reflected the unpredictable nature of comedy.
