Ana Kasparian’s Political Perspective
Ana Kasparian, a co-host of “The Young Turks,” stands out in the political landscape for her unwillingness to align herself strictly with party lines. She openly expresses feeling politically homeless.
“I’m in this odd spot where I see faults in both the Democrats and their policies,” she states. “They seem to share characteristics echoing those of Bush-era Republicans,” she mentions during a conversation with James Poulos, host of “Zero Hour.”
Kasparian believes this shift began with Donald Trump’s emergence in politics during the 2016 election.
“Trump really shook things up, for lack of a better phrase,” she explains. “He was such a disruptive presence that the left didn’t know how to tackle the situation. It almost felt like a ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ scenario for mainstream Democrats,” she adds.
She continues, “The Democrats have made a significant error in recent times by assuming that anything opposing Trump is inherently good for their party.” This perspective has drawn attention from various politicians, including California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Kasparian critiques Newsom, labeling him a “snake” preparing for a presidential run. She argues he presents himself as a rational, moderate figure, but she warns against trusting him.
“He has overseen the decline of the state I grew up in,” she asserts. “Newsom exemplifies a politician eager to lead but lacking the necessary qualities to truly be a leader,” she concludes, emphasizing that he tends to follow what he perceives as politically favorable at any given time.
