Ana Navarro accuses Ron DeSantis of ‘gaming the system’ in massive reelection victory over ‘corpse’ Charlie Crist

Political commentator Ana Navarro accused Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of “gaming the system” in his massive reelection victory over Democrat Charlie Crist, whom she called a corpse.

Navarro criticized DeSantis and his victory on CNN Thursday as the panel discussed the results from the midterm elections.

“I told you he was going to win bigly,” Navarro said, referring to DeSantis.

“But listen, Ron DeSantis barely won in 2018 by 35,00 votes by the skin of his teeth against a black, progressive, little-known mayor from Tallahassee, Florida. Yesterday, he won by 20 percentage points. Why?” she asked.

“Because he gamed the system,” Navarro explained. “Because he turned Florida into an unlevel playing field. They changed election laws, making it harder to vote by mail. They paraded a bunch of people — Black people that they arrested for voting fraud — and paraded them in front of national media. He created an election police.”

She went on refer to his Democratic opponent as a “political corpse” in order to undermine his achievement.

“Who can blame them when you nominate a corpse?” Navarro continued. “I mean, yes, [DeSantis] won bigly, but he won against a corpse, a political corpse. And that’s an insult to corpses.”

Not everyone agreed with Navarro’s assessment. Even progressive news outlets admitted that the major victories of DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) had turned the state of Florida from a swing state to a solid red state.

Some saw Navarro’s bizarre outburst as egregiously hypocritical given how she had excoriated former President Donald Trump and his supporters for rejecting the official results of the 2020 presidential election.

The huge margin of victory for DeSantis bolstered the speculation that he could seek the Republican nomination for the presidential election in 2024. He is widely considered a frontrunner as a candidate despite saying that he would not run if former President Donald Trump decided to run again.
