Ana Navarro: Bondi not an 'ogre' or 'jerk'

Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View,” said in a recent interview that President-elect Trump is hiring a former Department of Justice (DOJ) secretary following the resignation of former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida). He praised the appointment of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“I know Pam Bondi very well. She's a mainstream Republican who turned MAGA, like many other Republicans,” CNN contributor and Republican strategist Navarro said Thursday. He said this in an interview with “AC360”.

“I'm telling you, she's not a demon. She's not an asshole,” she continued, adding, “She's not someone who intentionally wants people to think she's what Matt Gaetz wants her to be.” No,” he continued.

Navarro was an early Trump supporter, and although candidates included Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, He pointed out that he has been supporting Trump ever since.

“I think he gets loyalty because of Pam Bondi, and that's very important to him,” she told host John Berman.

Her comments came the same day Gaetz withdrew from consideration after meeting with Senate Republicans amid a tough battle to convince them. Following this decision, President Trump announced that Bondi, who served as the Sunshine State's top prosecutor from 2011 to 2019, would be selected as attorney general.

President Trump wrote on Truth Social: “She is smart, tough, America's number one fighter and will do a great job as Attorney General!”

Bondi was a member of Trump's legal team during the then-president's first impeachment. The Florida Republican also serves as director of the America First Institute's Litigation Center.

Mr. Navarro contrasted Mr. Bondi with other members of Mr. Trump's cabinet.

Former Fox News host Pete Hegseth, President Trump's pick for secretary of defense, was accused of sexual assault in 2017, an allegation he vehemently denied.

Other controversial choices include appointing anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard over her alleged ties to Russia. One example is the appointment of the director of national intelligence despite the fact that

Navarro said Bondi was one of Trump's “better candidates.”

“She has not been accused of sexual assault. She did not saw off the head of a whale or stab a dead bear cub,” says Hegseth and Kennedy's daughter against former independent presidential candidate. He added, referring to the allegations made.
