Political analyst Gianno Caldwell from Fox News has been seeking answers about his younger brother’s murder, which took place nearly three years ago in Chicago.
Christian Beamon, Caldwell’s 18-year-old brother, was shot on June 24, 2022, on the city’s south side. The incident also left two other individuals injured.
“It’s really tragic for my family and me. I’m actively trying to uncover the truth about my brother’s death,” Caldwell shared with Fox News Digital. “We never thought we’d still be at this point three years later. It’s unsettling knowing other families are going through similar pain.”
As of now, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) is investigating Beamon’s murder but has not made any arrests related to the shooting.
The incident occurred in the 11,400 block of South Vincens Avenue and resulted in the deaths of an 18-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman, with a 31-year-old man also suffering from injuries.
According to the CPD, the shooter, described as an unidentified male, fled the scene in a dark sedan.
Since the incident, there have been no significant updates on the case.
The story of Beamon’s murder was highlighted on Fox’s “America’s Most Wanted” by host John Walsh, who has dedicated his life to helping families seek justice after losing loved ones to violence. Walsh noted, “There’s a terrible murder rate in Chicago; it’s truly unacceptable. I’ve seen this firsthand.”
Despite the years that have passed since Beamon’s death, Walsh believes there’s still a chance to identify the murderer.
Caldwell praised Walsh, referring to him as a “legend.” He expressed hope that someone might come forward with information after seeing the segment on “America’s Most Wanted.”
Chicago experienced its highest murder rate in 25 years in 2021, but that number has gradually decreased, recording 695 murders in 2022 and dropping further in subsequent years.
“Even one murder is too many,” Caldwell remarked. “While the numbers may be declining, it’s still concerning that the policies in place allow crimes to persist.” He criticized the current approach, noting that officers often require permission from superiors before pursuing suspects.
Walsh concurred that, although there has been a decrease in murders, the statistics remain troubling.
Furthermore, Walsh highlighted the broader issues at play, expressing concern for teenagers like Beamon who become caught in the crossfire of gang violence and drug-related incidents.
He pointed out the systemic issues faced by police, noting that many community members do not prioritize cooperation, which can lead to unresolved cases.
Walsh emphasized that if Caldwell weren’t a reporter for Fox, their family’s plight may not have received significant attention.
He lamented the collateral damage from violence in Chicago, indicating that many victims are often overlooked unless there’s widespread media coverage.
The ongoing “defund the police” movement, according to Walsh, has severely impacted officer morale in Chicago.
Caldwell has since channeled his grief into advocacy by establishing the Caldwell Public Safety Association, which aims to provide support for families affected by violent crimes.
This organization focuses on victim rights and a commitment to justice, emphasizing the need for accountability in the criminal justice system.
Caldwell and his siblings come from a challenging background, and he has often criticized the policies that allow repeat offenders to remain on the streets.
Christian Beamon, born in 2004, was the youngest sibling and had just celebrated his 18th birthday in 2022. Caldwell has referred to him as a son, signifying their close bond.
Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $15,000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of those involved in the shooting.
