Miranda Hobbes Faces New Challenges in Season 3 of HBO Max’s And Just Like That…

Miranda Hobbes, played by Cynthia Nixon, is having quite the rollercoaster ride in the latest season of HBO Max’s series. Over three seasons, she’s faced a drinking problem, a divorce, an awkward viral moment, and even a new partner, Chedias. Just when things look up for her son Brady, portrayed by Neil Cunningham, he drops a bombshell about becoming a father at just 20, with a girl who’s not even a significant part of his life.

In this episode, Steve (David Eigenberg), Miranda’s partner, has a rather uncomfortable encounter with the mother of Brady’s unborn child. The situation becomes comedic as Miranda unexpectedly finds herself in the role of a grandmother, which, well, it’s just not how she envisioned it.

When Brady decides to treat his parents to a meal, he leads up to two critical announcements. Firstly, he wants to become a chef—a positive sign for both Steve and Miranda as he seems to be planning for a future. But then he drops the second news: he’s about to be a father. He barely knows the girl and learned of her pregnancy after a chance encounter on the street. It’s a lot for a mom to digest.

Miranda, a bit of a control freak, is understandably on edge, while Steve reacts with volcanic anger, almost as if he’s just received the worst news imaginable. He blames Brady for ruining his life, showing an overwhelming concern for the choices his son is making, which can be somewhat bewildering. There are moments where you wonder just how far Steve might go in his outburst.

Meanwhile, Miranda doesn’t handle the situation well either. Upon learning that Brady’s baby mama, Mia, played by Ella Stiller, works at a Brooklyn salon, she approaches the situation awkwardly. Mia comes off as somewhat scatterbrained and is caught off-guard by Miranda’s attempts to be involved. The encounter quickly turns uncomfortable when Miranda, trying to establish authority, causes Mia to spray her with water, highlighting the awkwardness of the entire scenario.

Mia, who is indeed the mother to Brady’s child, has no intentions of involving him in their lives. Ella Stiller, the actress portraying Mia, is 23 years old and, interestingly enough, is the daughter of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor. Granddaughter to famous comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, she’s certainly carrying on a legacy.

Currently, Ella is performing in an Off-Broadway play titled Dilaria alongside Christopher Briney until August 8th. You might also recognize her as a cashier in Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2 and in Hubie Halloween. Whether Mia will reappear on And Just Like That… remains uncertain.
