Disgraced Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo explained why he believes Democrats lost the election and warned future Democrats to stop their slide.
Cuomo made the comments during an interview with journalist Mark Halperin on the show “2WAY Tonight.”
“What we talked about was strange to these people!'' It wasn't about criminal gender reassignment surgery! That's not where they were! ”
“The first thing Democrats have to realize is when you're stuck in a hole, stop digging,” Cuomo said. “I think we need to seriously understand what happened here, and I don't think that's going to happen overnight.”
Some have argued that the party has not moved far enough to the left, but he said he disagreed with that assessment and disputed it.
“Believe it or not, we're going to have to sue. And it's shocking to me that there are people who can maintain that position even after the election. But it's going to have to be resolved. Because there's going to be a far left.''It may seem strange, but the problem is that we weren't left with enough,'' Cuomo said.
“What happened is that people had two bad choices in this election,” he continued. “And President Trump has chosen the better of two bad choices.”
He said Democrats are “disconnected” from “reality” because of their hatred of President Trump.
“We're so blinded by our hatred for Trump that we think everyone will know we're right and he's wrong, that we're so obsessed with negating Trump that we're so obsessed with positive things for Democrats. “What will Democrats do for you?” Cuomo continued.
“Government is about doing things for you, and I don't think it's clear what the Biden administration has done for you. There was a double burden on Mr. Harris to make our case, because we weren't convinced that we were working for you and that we had actually accomplished something, and We have plans for your future, we didn't do it! ” he added.
“And what we talked about was strange to these people! It wasn't about gender reassignment surgery for criminals! That's not their place!” Cuomo concluded. . “And there was an elitist, arrogant radical left that dictated the agenda that dominated the campaign. I think that was the root cause of what happened.”
Cuomo resigned as governor in 2021 following repeated sexual harassment accusations. My interlocutor, Mr. Halperin, was similarly fired from SNBC in 2017 following several sexual harassment accusations.
