Victory Amid Frustration for Andrew Thomas

Andrew Thomas is likely grateful for his team’s win, his seventh in the last 750 days, but he can’t shake off the mistakes. It’s a mixed bag, really.

The seasoned left tackle carries the weight of an offensive line that often faltered, dealing with two red zone penalties and allowing six sacks, along with a lackluster 3.8 yards per carry. “It felt great to finally get a win,” Thomas admitted. “But, as an offensive lineman, I’m a bit frustrated. I wish we could have done better in the red zone. We could tighten things up and really control the game.”

Having missed 20 of his last 38 games due to injuries, Thomas played all 76 offensive snaps against the Chargers—a significant jump from the 25 he managed in his season debut just a week prior.

Coach Brian Daboll acknowledged Thomas’s hard work, stating, “He fought through it like everyone else. It was a tough matchup, but he knew he had to push through and play all game unless he needed a break. This has been an important step in his recovery.”

Despite some struggles, Thomas seemed to hold his ground, alleviating pressure from the quarterback since his return. He gave a nod to the Giants’ defensive front, which managed 12 quarterback hits and two sacks, but echoed a desire for more from both sides of the ball.

“We want to be a dominating force too,” he reflected. “It’s about being able to run the ball effectively and making sure our quarterback has time to find his receivers.”

Jackson Dart will practice on Wednesday, even if he took a heavy load during the recent game—though he looked a bit shaken in the locker room afterwards.

Meanwhile, Tyler Nubin took responsibility during a team meeting for a poor tackle that allowed a touchdown against the Cowboys in week two. “It’s about accountability,” Nubin shared. “I don’t want to let my teammates down. As a safety, it’s my job to extinguish those fires.” He admittedly struggled again with another missed tackle, contributing to a lengthy touchdown run by the Chargers’ O’Malion Hampton.
