Rams Look Ahead with New Roster Moves
The Los Angeles Rams are gearing up for a pivotal season as they aim to usher in a new era. Recently, they selected Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick in the NFL Draft. However, in an unexpected move, they chose to extend reigning MVP Matthew Stafford’s contract for another year and acquired current Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.
This trade with Garrett has stirred talks about Aaron Donald, a three-time DPOY, who may be contemplating a return to the field.
In a chat with Fox News Digital, former Ram Andrew Whitworth commented on whether he had any inside information about Donald’s plans. “No, I don’t think so,” Whitworth said. He joked, “If I was 35, I’d be out there right now. There’s no question about that.” Whitworth, who played until he was 40, mentioned that he’s still tuning into Donald’s situation.
“I’ll text him occasionally to see how he’s feeling. It’d be great to see him back. Watching him play is just exhilarating,” he added. Whitworth acknowledged that while he doesn’t want Donald to risk injury, he hopes he’ll consider returning if he’s interested.
Imagining Donald teaming up with Garrett is thrilling for fans and players alike, as their combined talents promise excitement.
Whitworth also expressed enthusiasm about Garrett’s transition to the Rams. “He’s been training at my gym, and it’s wonderful having him around. I think he gets how special this place is.”
He continued, “I believe we’ll see a highly energized Myles Garrett here, ready to contribute to a winning culture.”
As for Whitworth, he is looking forward to the American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament in Lake Tahoe—a personal highlight each year. “Every year, I count down to this day and then get nervous about the next one,” he shared with a sense of humor.
Reflecting on the tournament, he said, “It’s funny how we all get those nerves again, even though many of us are seasoned athletes. Playing in front of such a crowd brings back those good-old feelings.”
He added that this week holds a special significance for them, as they connect with their fans in a unique way.
