Andy Cohen Responds to Eric Adams’ Criticism
Andy Cohen has recently praised former New York City Mayor Eric Adams for suggesting he should consider Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), following some of Cohen’s comments about politics.
The talk show Watch What Happens Live resumed on January 5, 2026, after a holiday break. Cohen, who had previously described Adams’ campaign as somewhat “chaotic” and “terrible” during CNN’s New Year’s Eve special, didn’t hold back his feelings.
“Eric Adams’ first act as a civilian was to attack me on Twitter,” he remarked at the end of the episode. “By the way, Eric Adams, where are you lying? Where’s the lie?!”
While co-hosting the New Year’s Eve broadcast with Anderson Cooper, Cohen went off on a somewhat drunk rant about Adams, whose term just concluded—replaced by Zoran Mamdani.
After calling Adams’ time in office “chaotic” and “terrible,” he dismissed the former mayor’s recent criticisms. Referring to the recently dropped federal corruption charges against Adams, Cohen stated, “He got a pardon, he was forgiven. Okay, you forgive me, let’s move on. We have to work with what you left us.”
“You’ve pardoned me for four years. All clubs, see you there,” he added. “Goodbye, Mayor Adams. You did it, you did it, you did it, didn’t you?”
The day after Cohen’s comments, Adams took to social media to respond, critiquing Cohen’s on-air behavior. This incident follows a previous outburst from Cohen against former Mayor Bill de Blasio during a past New Year’s Eve broadcast, which led to a one-year ban on alcohol on-air for CNN.
“My response to @Andy: AA,” Adams tweeted. “Another drunken rant. If anyone truly cared about him, they’d advise him to seek help. New Yorkers aren’t laughing; they actually care. Public drunkenness is a disease. He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. See you later.”
He further added, “Get help. AAA: Andy’s Alcohol Anonymous.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sundays through Thursdays at 10 PM ET on Bravo, with new episodes available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
